FASD Community Grants Fund
The Department of Families supports an annual FASD Community Grants Fund for community-led projects. The FASD Community Grants Fund awards successful applicants between $500 - $2,000 for their FASD awareness, prevention or support projects.

Who can apply?
Eligible applicants:
- Non-profit organizations,
- Small businesses in the social services sector, and
- Individuals in partnership with a non-profit organization or small business in the social services sector.

Download the application form and send a completed copy by email attachment to FASDinfo@gov.mb.ca before the application deadline.
I received a grant last year, can I apply again?
Yes, applicants who received a grant from the Community Grants Fund in previous years can apply again. Please note, new applicants and new projects may be prioritized depending on the number of applications and amount of funding available.
How many applications can I submit?
Primary applicants may submit one project application per year.
An organization can act as an in-kind banker for someone else’s application while also submitting their own application. In this situation, they count as two separate applicants.
What projects are eligible?
Eligible projects:
- Request between $500 and $2,000
- New or non-funded, one-time projects or events.
- Projects or events that compliment an existing initiative (e.g., packages to give to community members at an event).
- Focus on FASD awareness, prevention and alcohol-free pregnancies, and/or support for people with FASD and their families in Manitoba.
- Provide any services or resources produced through grant funding to their community for free.
- Must support one or more of the Manitoba FASD Strategy's (PDF) guiding principles:
- Centering the voices of people with lived and living experience,
- Advancing reconciliation and increasing Indigenous-led service provision,
- Ensuring service quality, and
- Reducing stigma and promoting dignity.
Ineligible projects and costs:
- Expansion of existing funded programs or services.
- Projects already receiving other funding (e.g., Manitoba FASD Coalition Awareness Day Grants).
- Organization’s ongoing operational costs (salaries, rent, etc.).
How will my application be assessed?
Applications will be assessed based on the following:
- Description of your project and plan, including key activities and timeline. The project must be completed by March 31 of the following year.
- Description of your organization’s mandate and purpose.
- Links to one or more of the FASD Strategy’s guiding principles.
- Plans to include people with lived or living experience (people with FASD, caregivers/families of people with FASD, and/or people with lived experience of substance use in pregnancy) at one or more stages of the project.
- Resources or services produced using grant funds are provided to Manitobans free of charge.
- Description of your project’s goals for impact, outcomes, and a plan to evaluate and report on the final outcomes (e.g., submitting a final report, pictures, etc.) due by March 31 of the fiscal year you received the funds.
Based on the number of applications received, applicants may be offered a partial grant.
I received a community grant this year, how do I submit a final report?
Successful grant applicants are required to submit a final report to FASDinfo@gov.mb.ca after the project is completed. The final report is due no later than the end of the fiscal year (March 31) in which the funds were received. The format of the report should be submitted based on the method you proposed in your application form.
Examples of content you may include:
- A brief written report
- Survey/feedback results
- Photos, art
- Participant quotes
- Other
Reporting must reduce stigma and promote dignity regarding FASD. Project may also share information about the initiative through their local FASD coalition or the Manitoba FASD Coalition (e.g., through news or social media).
The final report should include a summary of project spending. Further financial details (invoices, receipts, etc.) should be saved and provided upon request.
