Professional Combative Sport

The MCSC licenses promoters, fighters, and officials in professional boxing and professional mixed martial arts (MMA), and sanctions all professional contests or exhibitions.

Amateur Combative Sport

Amateur combative sport in Manitoba is growing. Many diverse combative sport organizations and clubs provide participants with opportunities to practice, train and compete. The Department works together with the combative sports community to ensure Manitoba athletes have opportunities to pursue their sport of choice in a safe environment.

The Combative Sport Amendment Act (PDF) (Bill 40) was introduced in spring 2023 and received royal assent on May 30, 2023. Once the Act comes into force, the MCSC will oversee and sanction designated amateur combative sport in addition to professional combative sport.
