Families

Prevention

It is important for everyone to have information about alcohol use and how it affects their bodies and their lives. This is especially important when pregnant or planning to become pregnant. We know that:

  • Most people in Manitoba drink alcohol
  • Many pregnancies are unexpected
  • It is safest not to drink alcohol when pregnant, because alcohol can harm the fetus
  • Everyone can benefit from this this information, and some people will need extra support during pregnancy

Manitoba offers programs and resources to help pregnant people and families have the healthiest possible outcomes for themselves and their families.

If you have questions about your alcohol or drug use during pregnancy, please contact your doctor, midwife or public health nurse, or phone Health Links-Info Santé: 1-888-315-9257
