York Factory
1798-1805
Alexander Kennedy began his career with the Hudson’s Bay Company as a writer at York Factory. In 1798, York Factory was the main supply depot for prairie and Mackenzie River area posts and also the main shipment point to England. At that time, the post was quite developed, including numerous warehouses, a school, church, barn, stable, expansive living quarters, and a staff of approximately 35 to 40 men.
