Welcome. As Minister of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation, I am committed to improving, maintaining and upgrading our vital infrastructure and transportation systems across the province.
The government’s commitment to long-term improvements can be seen with the June 2011 launch of a second, five-year plan, bringing the investment in transportation infrastructure revitalization to more than $2.3 billion. Infrastructure investments include improving city and town streets and bridges, provincial highways and bridges, and critical transportation routes in all regions of the province. These projects will not only benefit the province when completed – they also create jobs and further fuel our economy.
In my role as Minister of Emergency Measures Operations (EMO), my responsibilities lie in responding to and co-ordinating flood operations, including managing the response and recovery work involved with the unprecedented flooding Manitoba experienced last year. My department will continue to manage flood-fighting infrastructure in the province to help prepare us for future floods.
I invite you to visit our website for a wide range of information, including current highway conditions, construction projects, project tenders. You will also find regular updates, and valuable information and progress reports on major projects.
