Welcome. As Minister of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation, I am committed to improving, maintaining and upgrading our vital infrastructure and transportation systems across the province.
Since 2011, we have invested more than $2.3 billion in revitalization of transportation infrastructure. These investments include improving city and town streets and bridges, provincial highways and bridges, and critical transportation routes in all regions of the province. These projects will not only improve the safety and efficiency of our transportation networks, they will also create jobs and further fuel our economy.
My department continues to place a high priority on water control infrastructure (ex: culverts, drains, dams, reservoirs, diversions, pumping stations) to ensure our highways, and other transportation routes, remain effective and safe for Manitobans.
In my role as Minister of Emergency Measures Operations (EMO), my responsibilities lie in responding to and co-ordinating flood operations, including managing the response and recovery work involved with the unprecedented flooding Manitoba experienced last year. As well, I am responsible for managing our flood protection infrastructure. We have an excellent flood protection system, and are continually making improvements to help prepare us for future floods.
I invite you to visit our website for a wide range of information, including current highway conditions, construction projects and project tenders. You will also find regular updates, and information and progress reports on major projects.
