Families

Child Care Subsidy
The Child Care Subsidy Program provides provincial support to eligible families to help with the cost of care by reducing child care fees for children from the ages of 12 weeks to 12 years.

Employment and Income Assistance
The Employment and Income Assistance Program (EIA) provides financial assistance to Manitobans who have no other way to support themselves or their families. This includes benefits from the Rent Assist Program that help with housing costs. For people who are able to work, EIA will help them go back to work by providing supports to employment. Manitoba Prenatal Benefit
The Manitoba Prenatal Benefit is monthly benefit to help you eat healthy foods during pregnancy. It provides a connection to early prenatal care including referrals to a community support program and other resources. An application form can be downloaded from this site or picked up in medical offices, community agencies and government offices. Manitoba Child Benefit
The Manitoba Child Benefit provides financial assistance to low-income parents not receiving EIA to assist with the cost of raising their children. It also provides parents with additional assistance to help with some of the costs of prescription eyeglasses for their children. Low-income families may be eligible for up to $35.00 per month, per child.

Persons with Disabilities

Disability and Health Supports Unit
The Disability and Health Supports Unit offers a streamlined, one-stop-shop to help eligible clients access disability and health-related supports such as supplies, equipment and nutritional or diet supplements based on a diagnosed medical need.

Manitoba Supports for Persons with Disabilities
The Manitoba Supports for Persons with Disabilities (MPSD) program is an income support program for persons with severe and prolonged disabilities. MPSD provides enhanced financial and other benefits tailored to the unique needs of persons with disabilities.

55 PLUS Program
The 55 PLUS Program, a Manitoba Income Supplement, provides quarterly benefits to lower-income Manitobans who are 55 years of age and older and whose incomes are within certain levels.

School Tax Assistance for Tenants 55 Plus
Provides rebates to eligible tenants over the age of 55 to offset the school tax portion of rent costs.

Online form portal for both the Child Abuse Registry check and the Adult Abuse Registry check, including essential information and directions for each submission process.

Shelter

Canada Manitoba Housing Benefit
The Canada-Manitoba Housing Benefit is a benefit paid to eligible renters who need assistance paying for their core housing. The benefit reduces or eliminates housing needs in vulnerable populations by providing financial assistance.

The benefit offers assistance to three vulnerable populations who need additional help with housing costs:

  • youth transitioning, or youth who have recently transitioned out of the care of the child welfare system
  • people who are at risk of homelessness or who are homeless
  • people living with mental health and addiction issues in designated housing buildings

Rent Assist
Rent Assist is a financial benefit for eligible low-income private renters who are spending a large amount of their monthly income on their rent.

Provides rebates to eligible tenants over the age of 55 to offset the school tax portion of rent costs.

Fair Practices Office
The Fair Practices Office provides confidential and impartial assistance to Manitobans applying for, or receiving services under:

  • Community Living disABILITY Services
  • Early Learning and Child Care Program (subsidy)

The Fair Practices Office investigates complaints, mediates disputes and makes recommendations on individual cases to program staff based on investigation outcomes.

Social Services Appeal Board
The purpose of Social Services Appeal Board is to give Manitobans a fair, impartial, and informal appeal process of decisions relating to various social services and programs:
