2025 Wildfires

Manitoba has established a DFA program for the 2025 Wildfires. Municipalities affected by the 2025 wildland urban interface fires either directly or indirectly (as a host community) can request DFA for municipal costs.

Municipalities can apply by submitting a Council Resolution and Community Impact Statement. Refer to the Local Authorities DFA webpage.

Details on expenses eligible for response, recovery and relief can be found in Schedule D of the Disaster Financial Assistance Regulation, M.R. 42/2025.

Insurable damages are not eligible for DFA, whether insurance was purchased or not. Secondary properties such as cottages are never eligible for DFA. In addition, DFA does not assist with loss of income, revenue, wages, market share or opportunity.

We recommend property owners reach out to their insurance broker for information about insurance policies and additional coverage that may be recommended. Refer to the Frequently Asked Questions for more details.
