(submitted by Joy Kennedy from the Province of Manitoba) This photo is of Kevin Jacobs (left), Water Protection Officer and the helicopter pilot (right). They are breaking the ice with an ice auger and are about to collect water quality samples of the North Basin of Lake Winnipeg. These are dangerous, cold, and mean working conditions. I think the photo symbolises “Be The Change”in that Kevin is helping Lake Winnipeg by collecting valuable information that will assist in lake management decisions and he is also having fun. Blending ‘adventure' with ‘doing the right thing' is a change that I'd like to see Canadians embody – again!
