Strong shifting winds, above normal temperatures and low humidity continue to increase the fire danger levels throughout the province. Crews continue to battle new and existing wildfires as well as provide assistance to the Office of the Fire Commissioner and municipal Fire Departments with wildfires occurring in the Wildland Urban Interface areas.
Eastern/Central Regions:
The wildfire approximately 7 km northeast of Caddy Lake on the Manitoba/Ontario border is approximately 1,000 ha. Wildfire crews, water bombers and helicopters continue suppression work on this wildfire. Ontario is the lead wildfire agency on this fire. Sprinkler protection of threatened structures continues in these areas on both sides of the border.
The wildfire east of Beresford Lake on the Manitoba/Ontario border has grown to approximately 20,000 ha. and has reached Beresford Lake. Wildfire crews and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to respond with sprinkler protection equipment for threatened structures at Beresford Lake.
The mandatory evacuation order remains in place for the Beresford Lake cottage subdivision. Home and cottage owners in the Beresford Lake area are encouraged to contact the Eastern Region Office at 204-345-1444 for more information.
• Provincial Road 312 is closed to traffic.
• Travel restrictions remain in place for Areas 1, 2 and 3 in eastern Manitoba including the Mars Hill Wildlife Management area. Motorized back country travel is prohibited between the hours of noon to 7 pm in these areas and any travel outside of these set times must be under the authority of a travel permit issued at the discretion of a Conservation Officer.
• All burning permits are cancelled and no new permits will be issued for eastern and central Manitoba. No new permits will be issued until conditions improve. The affect areas from the United States border on the south, through the Interlake to Gypsumville and Berens River in the north and east to the Ontario border.
• In Birds Hill Provincial Park, campfires will only be allowed in the approved fire pits between the hours of 8 pm to 8 am.
• The Mantario, Hunt Lake and McGillvray Falls hiking trails in Whiteshell Provincial Park are closed until wildfire conditions improve.

Western Region:
Burning Permits are cancelled in western Manitoba including the Turtle Mountain and Spruce Woods provincial parks and the area from the west shore of Lake Winnipegosis to the Saskatchewan border including the Duck Mountains and Porcupine Hills north to the Overflowing River. No new permits will be issued until conditions improve.
Travel restrictions are also in place for Area 7 of western Manitoba including the Spruce Woods Provincial Park and Spruce Woods Provincial Forest areas, Camp Hughes and the Wildlife Refuge at the community of Spruce Woods near CFB Shilo. Restrictions for this area includes no motorized back country or remote cottage access unless approved by a travel permit, camping allowed only in developed campgrounds and launching and landing of boats restricted to developed shorelines.

General information:
Please exercise caution when in or near forested areas. In areas where ATV use is authorized, please remember to stay on developed trails, stop frequently to check areas around the engine and exhaust for debris and carefully dispose of any debris found. A small shovel, axe, and fire extinguisher should be carried with your ATV at all times.
Open fires are prohibited from April 1 to November 15 annually, except under a burning permit or in enclosed, approved fire pits such as grated campfire pits in provincial campsites. Activities in wooded areas involving fireworks or sky lanterns may also require written authorization during this time period in certain areas.
