Farm income forecast for Manitoba just released - new record farm cash receipts achieved in 2017 and 2018 is projected even higher!

Manitoba Markets Weekly Reports: These two reports are a weekly summary of the latest commodity prices for Livestock along with Grains and Oilseeds.

A new report on Manitoba Forage prices is availale. This report is the result of extensive surveys of buyers and sellers in Manitoba. It can be found under Forage Market Prices.

Manitoba Agriculture Statistics Factsheet is now available on our website and also ready to be shared in Manitoba Ag Days 2018.

2016 Census of Agriculture Manitoba Profile has been released. The number of Manitoba farms has been declining, while the farm size, herd sizes and gross farm cash receipts have been increasing. Manitoba has the second youngest population of farm operators in Canada.

The Price Improvement Program is currently in place to improve quality and quantity of livestock marketing information. Program information and Livestock Prices Collection Templates can be found under Livestock Statistics. Market Intelligence encourages both buyers and sellers to contribute by reporting sales information.

MB Auction Markets sold 43,109 head of cattle in March, 15% lower than the previous year

April 3, 2018 : The United States Hog Inventory Summary (PDF 194KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of the March 29, 2018 (PDF 573KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. US total hog inventory on March1 was 72.9 million head, 3% higher than the previous year.

March 21, 2018 : The Manitoba Top Exports (PDF 33KB) (PDF 33KB) can be found under Trade Statistics. Canola is the biggest commodity exported by Manitoba in terms of value, followed by pork and wheat.

March 6, 2018 : The Livestock on Farms in Manitoba and Canada (PDF 210KB) has been released and can also be found under Livestock Statistics. The report showed cattle, hog and sheep numbers in Manitoba on January 1 were up 1%, 4% and 15% respectively from last year. Canadian inventories increased by 1%, 3% and 3% respectively.

February 5, 2018 : The United States Cattle Inventory Summary (PDF 194KB) has been released and can also be found at the bottom of the February 5, 2018 (PDF 509KB) Manitoba Markets Livestock Prices report. US inventory of all cattle and calves on January 1 were 94.4 million head, 1% higher than the previous year.

January 8, 2018 : The November Estimates of Production of Principal Field Crops (PDF 304KB) 2017 can be found under Crop Statistics.

December 1st, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Cash Receipts Estimates - Quarterly (PDF 396KB) for January to September 2017 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba farm cash receipts for the first three quarters of 2017 are estimated to be $4.88 billion, 7.5% higher than 2016 level.

November 27, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Income - Annual (PDF 598KB) for 2016 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba realized net income increased to $593 million, up 18% from 2015.

June 14, 2017 : Manitoba's Farm Cash Receipts Estimates - Annual (PDF 428KB) for 2016 is now available and can be found under Financial Statistics. Manitoba farm cash receipts are estimated to be $5.93 billion, 2% higher than 2015 level.
